Are you one of the many people who are struggling to pay off their bills and don’t know how to stop the headache? Debt is a word no one likes to hear or use but the fact is most of us regular folks will experience it and will not like it one bit. Do you remember when you first got your credit card, swiped it at your favorite store and a month later got the bill? You were all excited because it made you feel important and a step further into the real work and maturity. Now you probably wish you could go back to one credit card instead of 10 or more varying from your favorite food place, clothing store, shoe store, video store, and so on. Debt does not have to take over your life, there are ways to how to get rid of debt just need to find one the that fits your needs.

The first step to fixing your debt is to calculate your income and expenses over a month and see where your money is being wasted. By keeping every recite and jotting everything down, you will realize how fast your money leaves your house as well as the places it really should be spent on. One way to save extra cash and place it towards your bills is by making your own breakfast, lunch and dinners. You will also save money by shopping less at clothing stores, going less often to restaurants and ‘junk shopping’ meaning you see it, think it’s cute but will most likely never use it. Once you get these habits out of the way, you will see how much money you can actually save and put towards your bills or savings account.

Most people think that by avoiding their credit report they will have fewer headaches and probably think they know what is awaiting them. The fact of the matter is that by checking your credit report you can check for problems and false identification. There is no need to pay for other people’s mistakes as well. After you’ve done this, you need to call creditors. Most cards will reason with you and allow you lower payments or interest on your account. When you do get to an agreement, make sure to get it in writing and faxed to you ASAP. This paper will protect you if they decided to change their minds or if they change companies.
